My name is Bill Softky. I know several brilliant thinkers, and they all say I think too much. But otherwise I'm fairly normal.

My parents were physicists and very loving, and my kid brother became my lab-partner. I did well in school, served in the Peace Corps in Cameroon, attended grad school, and worked as a neuroscientist and computer expert at a wide variety of technology jobs in Silicon Valley. No enormous wealth or fame, but that variegated career path gave me the privilege of interacting with a wide variety of brilliant thinkers and fun people on very challenging projects. So I've done a little bit of everything.

As with most technologists, I've been unemployed occasionally.
